Forget the images of arid desert the state name conjurs; Angel Fire Bike Park is a forested gem featuring a variety of soil and weather including a monsoon season that allows builders to do amazing things with the dirt. Trails range from North Shore-inspired skinnies to massive jump lines, manicured flow and boulderiffic World Cup-esque super chunk.

LEARN MORE ABOUT ANGEL FIRE BIKE PARK

Angel Fire Bike Park, looking to cement its reputation as one of the best downhill mountain biking destinations in the Rockies, continues to grow in both size and reputation the each year. In 2016 the Angel Fire Bike Park will offer more new and improved downhill and cross-country trails for riders of all abilities, on one of the largest networks of lift-served mountain bike trails in North America.

“Our bike park has been solely developed and built by a team of actual riders. The goal has always been to create the most authentic trails that riders will be excited about,” explains Hogan Koesis, bike park director, Angel Fire Resort. “The equal mix of manmade versus natural trails on our mountain is what most people who come to check us out, compliment us on. We strive to give all riders a great experience, which we’ve worked hard in the off-season to create.”

New for 2016

This summer Angel Fire Bike Park is adding 10 more bike carriers to its massive 2-mile long lift. The park is also purchasing a saw-mill to add even more wood features. The trail crew is also purchasing some specialty grading attachments to our excavators for even better trailbuilding. And for the first year, every trail crew member will have their own excavator for 6 months. "We are extremely excited about this upgrade as it will allow us to build and repair trails faster than anyone in the U.S.," says Hogan Koesis, bike park director at Angel Fire. The trail crew also plans to finish the park's easiest blue trail, Devinci's Code.

Angel Fire will also begin the process of becoming an IMBA ride center and a corporate member, helping to solidify the next step of the bike park's offerings beyond the chairlift, including amazing singletrack trails and long beautiful high forest and alpine rides.

"The next step for us besides making an amazing bike park even better is to offer amazing trails for all abilities and interests in regards to mountain biking," says Koesis.

Also new for 2016 is a learn to ride program that will utilize a new surface lift especially for teaching base terrain. A two-hour session will be offered for $49, including a lift ticket, body armor, bike and an instructor. Ultimately, the resort hopes this new entry level terrain based learning will enhance and increase the amount of people getting into the sport of downhill mountain biking.
