Bethany Hamilton Awarded Wildcard at Fiji Pro

Next Up

For the second year in a row, Bethany Hamilton has been awarded the wildcard at the Fiji Pro. Last year Hamilton made it all the way to the semi-finals before losing to eventual champion Johanne Defay. Now Hamilton is looking to repeat her success in the 2017 edition of the comp.

Hamilton became a household name when she survived a shark attack that left her without one of her arms. Despite this horrific injury, she has been able to surf at a Championship Tour level, becoming an inspiration to millions. The male wildcard is Brazilian Yago Dora, the young man who beat three former world champions at the Rio Pro.
