Did Wes Anderson Direct This Surf Film?

Did Wes Anderson direct this? This is what I thought after checking out the introduction to Reef’s new twenty-three minute surf piece “De Passage.” Something about the tracking shots, symmetry, and the bright color palette reminded me of Anderson’s aesthetic. Maybe a more appropriate Anderson-esque title would be “The Grand Assemblage of Vagabond Water Walkers” rather than “De Passage.” All we need is a cameo from Bill Murray. Regardless, this is a beautifully shot and edited short that showcases some incredible waves. Everything from epic aerials to deep barrels can satisfy your watery needs. Despite an interest in how Hollywood would approach surf films, all I can say is I would really hate to see a surf film from Michael Bay. I don’t think I would enjoy seeing Shia Labeouf surfing a CGI wave with Megatron. Some Megan Fox beach shots, however, wouldn’t hurt.
