Kelly Slater Captures Unreal Virtual Reality

Next Up

Kelly Slater became a surfing champion when he won his first World Title in 1994. Since then, Slater has captured a record-breaking 11 Titles, showing a consistency that is unprecedented in any sport. Up until today, we have only been able to enjoy his surfing prowess from traditional camera angles.

TGR was able to travel with Slater and prolific surf director Taylor Steele to capture him in a way never done before: 360 virtual reality. This behind the scenes video shows what it took to get this one-of-a-kind experience.

This was filmed in conjunction with TGR's new film, Proximity. You can experience surfing with Kelly Slater with our virtual reality experience at Thursday night's premiere of Proximity in New York City at the Gramercy Theatre.
