ATTITASH BIKE PARK | BARTLETT, NH

ATTITASH BIKE PARK | MTBPARKS.COM

You'd be remiss to skip a stop at Attitash while in the New England region. Attitash offers up nearly 900 feet of vertical drop, and the newly opened Flying Bear chairlift allows bikers to access Bear Peak in the summer months for an additional 600 feet of descending. There are 33 downhill trails between the two mountains with plenty of steeps, rocks and roots. Swing by Matty B's in Bartlett for a pie and a pitcher after a day on the hill.

EVOLUTION BIKE PARK @ MOUNT SUNAPEE | NEWBURY, NH

EVOLUTION BIKE PARK @ MOUNT SUNAPEE | FREE LIFT TICKETS | MTBPARKS PASS

The Evolution Bike Park @ Mount Sunapee is new this season, but with a brand that got its start in mountain-bike Mecca of Crested Butte, you can bet big things are in store for this New Hampsire Bike Park. Kicking off with four trails for 2015, the resort chose to cover its bases from the flowing green Dirt Serpent to the technical black Rock This Way with the blue flow trail Sidewinder falling in the middle. (The fourth trail will be making its debut sometime in August.) It's a short jaunt to the Flying Goose Brew Pub in New London, one of the few places in the immediate region to craft its own beers.

WHITEFACE MOUNTAIN BIKE PARK | WHITEFACE, NY

WHITEFACE BIKE PARK | FREE LIFT TICKETS | MTBPARKS PASS

With the largest vertical drop on the Atlantic seaboard to its credit, Whiteface is known for East Coast gnar. Although a bit secluded, this resort is worth the drive. The Cloudsplitter gondola delivers you to the summit of Little Whiteface, where you're only trail options are black and double-black. Big bike territory without a doubt, Whiteface features slabs, drops and steeps with runs that average about 40 minutes. Beginner and intermediate riders can access more progressive terrain via a shuttle that leaves the base twice per hour. You can take a trail bike to a local cliff diving spot to cool off at the end of the day. Nothing relaxes you after a long, adrenaline-addled day like hucking a 60-footer. DISCOVERY BIKE PARK | PHILLIPSBURG, MT

alt

Just south of the tiny town of Philipsburg in an area that once thrived on mines and sawmills, Montana downhilling is alive and well. The turn off Highway 1 is marked by an old farm truck, and several miles down a dirt road, you'll find a dusty parking lot, a Porta Potty and a generator-run chairlift. Welcome to "Disco." Grab your lift ticket from the pop-up tent and get ready to shred. The bike park is situated on the backside of the Discovery Ski Area, where the land is private and no approval was needed to build, and the six trails here are more than worth the journey. Just make sure your cooler is well stocked—there are no concessions here.
