Starting Thursday, March 10th, the mountains of Central Oregon started to receive a little dose of snow. This would bring almost three weeks of warm, 60 degree weather to a drastic end. The forecast was looking warm going into the weekend, which had us worried if it was going to snow, or dump rain. Old Man Winter, however, had our backs. 5-9 inches were forecasted for every day and night throughout the weekend. High winds had most lifts closed both Saturday and Sunday making it hard to access the all of the fresh snow.
Monday morning we rolled up to the Mt. Bachelor parking lot, and what we saw on the ground was a whole lot more than 9 inches from the day before. Andrew Orlich and I wallowed through the snow, put on our skins, and headed for one of the deepest days of the year!
