This is terrifying. German freestyle skier Bene Mayr had a close call last week when an avalanche broke beneath him in Switzerland. He rode the sluff for a few moments, before pointing it straight and beelining it out of there.
According to Mayr, "I knew this could happen and I had a plan if it would. Go straight and be faster than the snow." If you think a face is going to slide, it's not a good idea not to ski it. That being said, outskiing this slide is an incredible feat, and most people agree that when caught an avalanche, you fight like hell to get out of it.
