The North Face’s virtual ski and snowboard competition, the Peak2Park Virtual Competition, has been collecting footage from athletes across Europe, the United States and Canada who are looking for a chance to win part of a $65,000 USD prize purse full of cash and gear from The North Face, Rossignol, LOOK and GoPro. CLIF Bar is adding to the purse and has officially signed on to create two new prizing opportunities for Peak2Park competitors.
Registration is open for the 2017 season and video submissions are due early to mid March for the All Mountain Open Series and the Park and Pipe Open Series.
King & Queen of the Mountain Award, presented by CLIF Bar—The King and Queen of the Mountain Award honors the all-around skier who can go big in the park, while also laying it down off-piste. The stand-out video submissions of one male and one female skier who participate in both the All Mountain Open Series (AMOS) and the Park and Pipe Open Series (PPOS) will receive $1,500 cash and one-year supply of Clif Bar product.
Mountain Maven Award, presented by CLIF Bar—CLIF Bar and The North Face partner to create a women’s specific Grand Prize given to one female Peak2Park competitor who has competed in either the Park and Pipe Open Series or the All Mountain Open Series. The winner will be chosen by a panel of professional freeski/snowboard female athletes for her standout performance, style and creativity. The Mountain Maven winner will accompany The North Face on an all expense paid trip to film and shred with pro athletes on The North Face brand team.
“It’s an amazing time to be a female snowboarder or skier. More than ever we are seeing women pushing the limits and being recognized for it. Submitting video footage can be scary, but don’t focus on perfection. Just do your thing, stay in the moment, find your line and show us how much you love getting after it. I hope you take this chance because the opportunities that can come from filming and learning from people in the industry are huge! Stoked to see what you've got” – Kimmy Fasani, Team CLIF Snowboarder and 2016 Transworld and Snowboarder Magazine’s Women’s Rider of the Year
“Historically, there have only been one or two women per ski movie. To me, that doesn't make a ton of sense as there are so many talented females out there. I'm constantly asked how to become pro, and while there is not an easy answer, with today's technology it's easier than ever to get eyes on your skiing without having to first be sponsored or win a traditional contest. The North Face Peak2Park Virtual Competition not only offers an equal prize purse for both women and men, it also provides a place to showcase your own skiing and creativity. Now is the time to show the world what you got!” – Hadley Hammer, The North Face freeski athlete and former Freeride World Tour Champion
In addition, registered U.S. competitors who submit videos to Peak2Park will receive a box of Clif Bars.
