Far Out Wins Best Powder Segment At The Powder Awards

Next Up

TGR had an all-time night at the 2018 Powder Awards. Along with taking home Powder Magazine’s Movie of the Year for the feature film Far Out, TGR was also awarded Best Powder for our segment featuring athletes Sage Cattabriga-Alosa, Hadley Hammer, Nick McNutt, and Dane Tudor. The 10-day foot powered mission in the remote Purcell Mountains of British Columbia rewarded them with some of the tastiest pillow lines we've ever seen. With high avy conditions and wet weather, the skiers and crew often had only one take to crush it. And crush it they did!

"There’s no better feeling than a deep powder turn," said Hadley Hammer. "Winning an award is also a great feeling. So when you win your first powder mag award for skiing powder, what's better than that?"

"The biggest credit goes to the film crew. When you’re camping and it dumps feet upon feet, the logistics of keeping cameras dry and clear are out of this world. Skiing the pow was definitely the easy part!" said Hammer. The TGR crew agrees!

"What’s better than skiing powder with your friends?" asks Sage Cattabriga-Alosa. "Winning an award with them for it. Winning the best powder segment is the icing on the cake of a powdery day."

We at TGR are honored to have been recognized for the goal we're all chasing. Pow! The other nominees were Alexi Godbout and Stan Rey for their work in Before Blank, and the DPS Cinematic film The Abbey. A huge congratulations to Sage Cattabriga-Alosa, Hadley Hammer, Nick McNutt, Dane Tudor, and the BC production crew. Stay tuned for our next adventure.

Far Out, presented by REI, is now available to rent or download on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Xbox, and Vimeo. Far Out brought us to all corners of the earth from BC to Russia, to the Slovenian Alps to the Crazy Mountains and finally right at home here in Jackson. While the final destination appears to be the ultimate goal, it is the collective of athletes, experiences, and the array of locations around the world that inevitably drive the season’s adventure.
