Jackson Hole: Christmas Powder Days

Wyoming Plow

Powder days are some of the best days of our lives. A typical Powder day brings lots of routine. There are lots of things that you do and see that tell you it is going to be a big day. In Jackson Hole the snowplows are bigger than normal. When you see the big machinery out you are usually in for a good day of riding.

Ski Patrol

Driving into the village you hear bombs echoing though the valley. The ski patrol has a tough job, one of the toughest. Here you see the boys three days into a storm that took over the mountain. We had just gotten our new tram, rode it for a week, and the upper mountain was closed for days on end. These guys were up at 4 a.m. every day and working all day to reduce the hazards. Whenever you see a ski patroller in the bar, buy them a drink.

First Chair

There is nothing like first chair on a powder day. You know you are going to get the goods. From left to right the boards are Jeremy Jones, Brian Iguchi, Steve jones, and my skis. Your possey is a great part of a good powder day. If a tree falls in the woods and noone hears it, did it fall? Sharing powder with friends is one of the great joys in life.

Thunder Chair PowderThe chairlift can be the best seat in the house. Yous ee all kinds of cool stuff. Here we were riding up Thunder lift and watching this guy get completly submerged in snow. I am always hesitant riding to hit the line below the chair, but I love watching it.

Steve Jones riding powder

Working for TGR has it's perks. When we made The Continuum we used the tagline, "He chose to be rich by making his wants few and supplying them himself. Here, Steve Jones supplies his wants to himself.
