Last Call: Your Venture Starts Here, Get Outta Town, Redefining Ski Porn, Brain Farm Goes Skating, and Some Other Cool Shit

Next Up

Welcome to Last Call. Dropping every Friday, this column serves as a wrap-up of our favorite stories and videos from the week—some old, some new, but all worthy of attention.

Your Venture Starts Here

In the shadows of the San Juans, Venture has been quietly crafting premium freeride decks and splitboards. The company’s home base—Silverton—is a special place and boasts some of the gnarliest terrain in the lower 48 states. In addition to showcasing the riding of Johan Oloffson, this clean little edit provides a glimpse of what makes Venture so special.

Get Outta Town

Winter is coming in quick here in the Tetons and it won’t be long until we’re gassin’ up the sleds and heading out to build some backcountry booters. If a fresh blanket of October snow doesn’t get you fired up for the winter, this will. Here is Episode 3 of Snowboarder Magazine’s newest webseries, Get Outta Town featuring Devun Walsh, Ryan Tiene, Dustin Craven, Eero Niemela, Benji Ritchie, and Iikka Backstrom ripping up the BC backcountry. If you haven’t been following this series, you’ve been missing out.

Redefining Ski Porn

This video is outrageous. “Ski porn” on a different level. It’s foul to the point that you will rock the typical grossed out pose (slight turn of head accompanied by gnarly stink face), but something keeps you watching. There is something about the combination of these monstrous “bubble butts” and rowdy rail riding that will leave you confused, yet intrigued. Not really sure where these guys were going with this one, but we will give it a thumbs up.

Epic Chatel Fail

This is a case of follow the leader gone wrong, very wrong. During a hardcore downhill race in Chatel, France, a series of riders followed each other off the course into a huge bumbling mess. One after another, riders plunged off a section of the trail that was meant to be a turn, and not a jump. Carnage ensues, which is exactly the type of messed up shit we like to watch on a Friday. Sit back, watch and laugh.

Brain Farm's Take on Skate

Brain Farm is at it again. The company is taking on the skate industry—and we like it. Slow mo grunge skating combined with fire and beats by Justice? Yes, please. Even if you aren’t huge into skateboarding, this video will leave you wanting more.
