November 25th, 2013 I was on my second day of preseason race training at Bretton Woods in New Hampshire. Third run of the morning it happened, I fell and broke my femur. After having my leg painfully straightened out by ski patrol, as well as my favorite snow pants cut off, an ambulance ride to a little hospital in Littleton, NH and another ambulance transport two and a half hours to Portsmouth, NH, I had a titanium rod and four screws put into my left femur. The orthopedic told me I wouldn't be skiing until the following year, but I was determined to prove him wrong. Three months of physical therapy, and pushing myself as hard as I possibly could, I did it. I skiied around ten times at the end of the 2013-14 season. Not to menchine the Cystic Fibrosis fundraiser ski race that i took first place in. This is how I went Higher than anyone expected.
