Niner presents the new RIP 9 RDO and JET 9 RDO trail bikes.
The modern trail bike is the go-to rig for most mountain bikers regardless of where they ride. That’s why we’ve continued the Niner [R]Evolution and created two new masterpieces, the all new JET 9 RDO and RIP 9 RDO trail bikes. By focusing on integrating our immensely capable CVA suspension system with modern geometries and components to suit any want, we’ve built a new platform that delivers bikes for the trails you want to ride.
JET 9 RDO
If your preference is quick, light and playful, then the JET 9 RDO is your ticket to fly. The [R]Evolution geometry puts you perfectly centered in the cockpit giving you balanced handling no matter what the terrain throws at you. The CVA linkage is fully active when you’re cranking giving you plenty of traction whether you’re charging up or down, and with 120mm of travel, it’s enough to take on the chunky sections with confidence.
RIP 9 RDO
Say you’re into sending it straight through the rough stuff and ripping the bigger lines, no problem. The RIP 9 RDO is designed to tackle the tougher terrain and never stop charging. The efficiency of the CVA suspension system gives you better pedaling efficiency than anyone would deserve from a 150mm rear travel bike, but as you might expect, the real fun starts once you drop the saddle and pin it for the ride back down.
At the core of the new Niner Trail line is our [R]Evolution geometry. The overall dimensions lean towards a longer reach on the frames creating a roomy cockpit so we can shorten the stem lengths. This provides quick handling and plenty of maneuverability to go mobbing through rock gardens and barreling big berms. Likewise, the chainstays have been shortened from previous iterations of our trail bikes for fast acceleration and a lively, playful feel. And of course the compact rear allows you to square off turns and play your way down the trail. To keep the overall feel of the bikes well rounded and to ensure efficient climbing and pedaling, we’ve steepened the seat tube angle. This keeps you centered on the bike and able to stay on top of your gear when you’re putting down the power.
27.5 PLUS COMPATIBILITY
From the early days of Niner, we believed that we were setting out to change the face of mountain biking. Our approach to the sport and the 29 inch wheeled bikes we made then were a great first step in what we saw as an Evolution of modern riding.
But a lot has changed since we first set about on our quest to make the best bikes in the world. When we first started building bikes, there were really only two choices, 26 or 29-inch wheels. It was a black and white world, but no more. The Niner [R]Evolution puts everything back on the table—geometries, handling, and the way components are integrated, including wheels.
We've chosen to embrace change when it means improving the performance of our bikes. Advances in technology are enabling us to take new approaches to design and engineering, especially when it comes to the evolution of wheel dimensions. We recognize 27.5” plus wheels and tires provide benefits to traction and handling many riders are looking for. Rather than limit our bikes from taking advantage of this new technology, we’ve embraced it and worked to optimize our frame design to accommodate 29” and 27.5” plus wheels. We will continue to push the boundaries of design by incorporating best in class features giving riders category leading bikes from gravel to long travel trail.
The Constant Varying Arc (CVA) suspension platform we engineered and patented years ago remains as the steady foundation for our full suspension bikes. But how can this technology keep pace with the ever-changing ‘standards’ in today’s mountain bike world? Unlike so many suspension systems out there that are based on optimal chainring-to-pivot point configurations, CVA relies on counteracting linkage forces that are not dependent on specific pivot locations. The bottom linkage is pulled downward when you’re pedaling to negate squat, while the upward rotating top linkage is left free to react to terrain changes. What you get is efficient, fun, fully active suspension, all the time.
But let’s face it, if you’re in the market for a new trail bike, you want something that turns up the dial on fun factor. Our new line of trail bikes pair the [R]Evolution geometry with our CVA suspension system to provide a platform that will have you floating up technical climbs with tons of traction and send you flying smoothly over everything else.
