Mt. Baker, WA – The Ski Journal is pleased to announce the addition of photographer Garrett Grove as Photo Editor. After a circuitous path from Alaska to Utah to BC to Bellingham, Garrett now calls the tiny mountain town of Leavenworth, WA home. Since he first picked up a camera a decade ago, Garrett's work has been featured in the outdoor world’s most recognizable publications, including Powder, Bike, Rock & Ice, Backcountry, Freehub, The Ski Journal and many others. His quest for unique imagery has taken him around the world, from Japan to South Korea to New Zealand and all over North America.
Flip McCririck, who served as the Photo Editor with distinction for the last three seasons, will continue with the publication as Photo Emeritus, focusing on feature and project photography. His influence will remain a real part of the title.
The Ski Journal continues to be the true voice of ski culture, and Garrett’s ability to capture both the dynamism of the sport and the soul behind each story fits perfectly with our mission. We are excited for the rich perspective he will bring to the pages TSKJ starting with Volume 10. Welcome to the team, Mr. Grove.
“First, we thank Flip for the tremendous job he has done with The Ski Journal over these last three years," says publisher Jeff Galbraith. "We are at the point with our growth where we need a Photo Editor closer to our home office. Garrett is in our own backyard and his talent and qualifications speak for themselves. We look forward to this next year with a continually strengthening photo staff."
